DFI 2019 Day 1

Today was a very inspiring day because I heard and learnt about the beginings of The Manaikalani Outreach Programme which began in 2000. Lots of things were happening behind the scenes to get this "Outreach " up and running. What an amazing initiative this has been.

I learnt a lot today about Google and knowing this, should make me understand what the students are learning and ways I can use this in my teaching.
I managed to make a poster for Kokatahi's pet day, using some of the tools we worked with today.

I will go back to today's agenda and refresh myself on what was presented. The facilitators did and amazing job keeping things on track and I found I needed quite a bit of assistance to complete some of the tasks. Being the Junior Class teacher, I have not had enough practise to become au fait with some of these tasks, but look forward to becoming more confident and competent over the next eight sessions.

  1. Well done Ingrid on all you succeeded in mastering today. You are learning so many new tricks for the computer, it is great that you plan to revisit the day's programme so that you can practice them on your own. Your pet day poster looks awesome by the way.

  2. Hi Ingrid, I did enjoy spending the day with you last week and am pleased that you felt included and supported to make progress on the Digital Fluency journey. I admire our colleagues who are teaching the young children and have to rely on upskilling in their own time as they are not using tools to a complex level with their learners. You have already come away with skills you can implement on a regular basis. I hope the next 8 weeks with continue in a similar vein for you.
